ReQuest Plus

 

Request Plus (1978-2018) (214:19)

This selection tries to complete the Request 6CD bootleg with all tracks missed on Request.

This includes special edits, compilation appearances, duets,  iTunes only bonustracks and a few omissions of the original ReQuest.

Any addition will be welcomed. Note I will not include where Nits members only have a minor role, like playing as a guest musician, or a production credit.

Blue Diamonds

A demo recorded in 1978. Written by Henk.

It was first officially released by Dutch duo “The Blue Diamonds” on their anthology “35 jaar” in 1995.


This track was also  recorded by Dutch group “The Cats” and that recording didn’t see an official release until 2014, when it was included on their 3CD anthology “Collected

A version recorded with Peter Te Bos from Claw Boys Claw as guest vocalist.
This recording is the backing track for the photo gallery on the Urk DVD.

The Dream (Live in Moscow 22-03-1989)


Unique live version recorded in Moscow. Not very different compared to the Urk version. Released on a rare Radio Netherlands promo 2CD “Dutch Rock Alive and Well 1989”. This CD also contains 5 interview snippets with the band, not included in ReQuest.

Two tracks from this Frank Boeijen album released in 1991.
Henk arranged both tracks and plays a major role on it, both tracks sound like a duet.
On this album there’s also the track “Hollandse Hemel” which Robert Jan arranged and on which he plays the keyboards.

Net Als Een Kind



A track written by Henk. first released on a CDsingle by Rob Janszen, in 1992
Written to compete in the Dutch pre-selection for the Eurovision Songfestival 1992. Originally with Frank Boeijen in mind as the singer.
Liesbeth List also recorded this song for her album List and released it as a single. The demo Frank Boeijen recorded, ended up on his single Zonder Koninkrijk.
This live version features Henk on vocals and guitar.

Fausse Route

French sung version of the Nits track “Road Not Taken”.
Played by Nits.
Released exclusively on the 2015 boxset “Intégrale” by Kent. The track appears on the 14th and bonusdisc “Démos et Merveilles”

 Robinson (rejected lyrics version)


This first version has the lyrics which the publishing company of Paul Simon rejected, and the song had to be rerecorded at the very last moment.
Not officially released for obvious reasons, but Sony made a CD-r of it.
Probably only a few copies of this cd-r found their way into the world anyhow….

 Soap Bubble Box (Acapella)

Henk sings lead on this acapella version by Belgian vocal group “Voice Male”.
Released on CD “That’s Live” in Belgium in 1998 (EPIC 492742 6)
Great recording (soundwise) and a nice performance.

 Witte Bloem / Bevroren Meer

 Track written by Henk, on which two of his daughters also appear.
CD Recorded to commemorate the death of Othman and Khalid, ages six and eight, killed by a hand-grenade they found in a park in Amsterdam...

 Vierkante auto

A track written by Henk, appearing on the album “Vergezicht” by Dutch chansonnier Liesbeth List. Henk sings along.

Released in 2002 on the album “Before Sleep” from Simon Ho, this track is written by Henk, both music and lyrics. He sings lead vocals.

He sings on 3 more tracks on this album, but this is the only track he actually wrote.

A track on which Henk sings a duet with this Swiss singer/songwriter. He also plays some sounds on the track.
Released in 2012 in Switzerland.

Unique track performed at Radio 1, Met Het Oog Op Morgen
This show has the "world-premiere" of this brand new track
Inspired by the Dutch artist Jan Montyn, Nits played at the opening of the exhibition the 19th of January at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam.

Unique track by Henk, released on the CD “Meer Mokum” in 2013.

Sketches Of Spain (live with Filippos Pliatsikas) 

Both tracks are live renditions from the classic Nits tracks, together with Greek popstar Filippos Pliatsikas, released March 10, 2014 on a compilation 2CD containing various other collaborations with other artists. 

Take This Waltz (Yules & Henk)

A collaboration which appeared on the Leonard Cohen tribute album “Songs of Love and Love”, free with Les Inrockuptibles, released on September 27, 2014.

 Orange & Yellow & Grey

Unique track by Henk, written for a project by Leo Blokhuis. The project is called “What the World Needs Now” and all tracks are available to stream. As far as I know, there has been no physical release of the tracks.
Released February 2017.

 White Car / Blue Ocean 

Track written by Henk, with Marco Raaphorst and Tom America, both former members of Dutch band MAM. Released on a tribute CD-r for Ron Kane “The Record Man”
